We all the know the story of Othello, the husband so jealous with rage he kills his wife; his sinister adviser Iago who whispers lies in his ears; his wife Desdemona who desperately loves her suspicious husband; and Emelia, Desdemona’s maid and Iago’s wife, who innocently gets mixed up in the affair.

Desdemona: A Play about a Handkerchief tells the women’s side of events. Brazen, sensual, curious, bawdy, and wistful, the women in Othello’s story take front stage and unravel Shakespeare’s famous play from the female perspective.
